It elaborates approaches to detection and understanding objects and surrounding environment in different light and weather conditions, making use of diverse sensors and fusion of different sensor modalities such as cameras, lidars, and radars. It describes principal approaches used by the methods for creating and keeping maps from sensory data and localizing vehicles relative to these maps (SLAM, PF, Visual Odometry) and using the global navigation systems (GNSS).
